What we do
We Support communities to reach their full potential
WFSL specialises in partnering with rural communities to unlock their true potential. Living in remote areas significantly diminishes the prospects of prosperity. At WFSL, we immerse ourselves within these communities, guiding and mentoring them to realise their full potential and successfully achieve their vision.
Community Owndership and Capacity Building

WFSL involves empowering individuals and groups within a community to enhance their skills, knowledge, and resources for effective self-governance and sustainable development. WFSL organises one to one sessions, group workshops, training sessions, and skill-building programmes to foster leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
By strengthening the community’s capacity, it becomes better equipped to address its own needs and challenges, fostering a sense of ownership and resilience. WFSL also works with local community-based organisations, other NGOs and government departments to bring the best to the communities living in disadvantaged circumstances.
WFSL works with communities to foster a sense of ownership and responsibility within the community for the project’s success. We have experience in working with communities to develop strategies for the sustainability of project outcomes beyond the initial implementation phase. We work with communities to set up by-laws, micro saving schemes, purchase of spare parts and also provide them with skills on repair, maintanance and sustainable agriculture.
Prospering equally.
WFSL works towards achieving equal opportunities and prosperity for women, men, disabled and elderly. By focusing on skill enhancement, providing platforms for women, and fostering collaboration, these communities are overcoming historical inequalities.
Quality education and vocational training tailored to both genders’ are provided on the ground. Programmes in agriculture, entrepreneurship, and modern technology are introduced to bridge skill gaps.
Establishing women led VSLA (Village Saving Schemes) provides a structured platform for economic activities and collective bargaining power and empower women to start or expand businesses, while financial literacy programmes ensure effective management.
Joint business ventures between men and women foster mutual respect and economic participation. Community projects in farming, water management, and infrastructure development provide avenues for collaborative work towards common goals. Gender-balanced leadership committees ensure inclusive decision-making, reflecting the needs and perspectives of both genders.

Water Infrastructure

WFSL in partnership with communities install water infrastructure systems for the efficient collection, treatment, and distribution of clean water.
Improvements may also involve rainwater harvesting systems, water storage facilities, and irrigation systems to enhance agricultural productivity, ensuring reliable access to clean water for all community members.
WFSL has a team of experts in installing, drilling and extending water supply across rural communities. We have expertise in both manual and solar system installations.
Climate adaptive Agriculture
WFSL focuses on enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability. It includes the introduction of modern farming techniques, access to quality seeds and fertilizers, and the establishment of irrigation systems. Additionally, promoting agroecological practices, crop diversification, and efficient post-harvest management contribute to increased food security and income generation within the community.
WFSL also introduce climate-adaptive agriculture practices, involving introduction of resilient crops, water-efficient techniques, and community-driven strategies.
Implementing agroforestry, rainwater harvesting, and drought-resistant crop varieties helps farmers cope with climate variability, ensuring food security amidst changing environmental conditions while fostering sustainable and adaptive agricultural ecosystems.

Economic Opportunities

WFSL expand economic opportunities for communities by creating avenues for income generation and employment. This may include supporting small businesses, providing vocational training, and facilitating access to markets. By diversifying economic activities, community members can reduce vulnerability and improve overall economic well-being.
Health and Hygiene
WFSL aims to enhance public health through the installation of sanitation facilities and the promotion of good hygiene practices. It includes the construction of sanitary toilets, waste disposal systems, and education on proper hygiene. Improving health infrastructure and access to healthcare services further contribute to reducing the prevalence of diseases and improving overall well-being.
